About this project
This Final Major Project (2025) explores my interest in creating visually striking, expressive work through bold colour, layered imagery and experimental mark making. The project brings together a range of outcomes, including prints, painted surfaces and sculptural elements, all connected through a consistent visual language of organised chaos. I focused on building compositions that feel energetic and raw, using repeated motifs, strong contrasts and intuitive layering to create depth and movement across each piece.
Throughout the project, I developed my practice by pushing scale, material and presentation, ultimately creating a body of work that translates my personal style into a cohesive and immersive visual experience.

inspiration & process
This project was inspired by urban visual culture, particularly graffiti, street art and the layered surfaces found within everyday environments. I was drawn to the way marks, textures and symbols build up over time, creating compositions that feel chaotic yet intentional. This influenced my use of repeated motifs, bold colour contrasts and expressive mark making, allowing me to develop a strong and recognisable visual language throughout the work.
My process was experimental and intuitive, beginning with layered backgrounds using paint and spray techniques to create depth and texture. I then worked back into the surface, adding drawn elements, stencilled forms and graphic imagery to build complexity. By continuously responding to the surface, adding, removing and reworking areas, I was able to create pieces that feel energetic and raw, while still maintaining a sense of structure and cohesion across the project.
